The Dalhart Area Childcare Center was organized in 1975 by the Dalhart Ministerial Alliance as the Dallam-Hartley County Child Development Center, with the mission of serving the childcare needs of working mothers in Dallam and Hartley Counties. In 1994, the Center combined with the Magic Latchkey Program and was revamped into the Dalhart Area Childcare Center.

With current, local childcare demands on an ever increasing rise, the Center's Board of Directors began work on a new, state of the art childcare facility. In July of 1996, this dream became a reality with the opening of the doors of the new Center building. It is important to note that the new, 1.2 Million dollar facility was created built through local donations, grants and endowments. While government officials from Dallam County, Hartley County, the City of Dalhart and Dalhart ISD provided invaluable time and efforts, no tax money was used in the building of the new facility.

The Center, which is under the direction of Toni Coke, provides care for children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years in varying capacities. Chief among these are full day care for children year round as well as a latchkey program for afterschool care. The Center also houses Dalhart ISD's Early Childhood Education programs.

The Center incorporates field trips, parenting programs and interactive learning to provide the highest quality environment for the children of Dallam and Hartley Counties.

Dalhart Area Childcare Center is a fully licensed Daycare Center by the State of Texas and is also a designated vendor of the Child Care Management System.

Rates and Room Divisions:

Ages 0-12 Months:	$15.00 per day
Ages 13-18 Months:	$15.00 per day
Ages 19-24 Months:	$15.00 per day
Ages 25-36 Months:	$15.00 per day
Ages 37-48 Months:	$15.00 per day
Over 49 Months:	$15.00 per day
Afterschool Care:	$6.00 per day
